B.B. King's Blues Club Set To Open at The Mirage in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS ? November 5, 2009 ? B.B. King's Blues Club, opening November 6 at The Mirage, promises to pack a punch with live entertainment, soul food and smooth operation with the expertise of recently hired personnel, General Manager Cheryl Vereen, Executive Chef Oscar Pena and Sous Chef Charles McCann.
Vereen decided to expand her creative ability and utilize her operational experience by accepting the position of general manager at B.B. King's Blues Club after three years as the general manager at House of Blues (HOB) in Las Vegas. A HOB team member since 2000, her experience through the opening of two locations, Anaheim, Calif. and Atlantic City, N.J., made the move a natural progression. The sense of hospitality and mission to present a quality product in a fun environment at B.B. King's Blues Club is a standard Vereen identifies with, making the move an easy choice for her.

Executive Chef Pena has been honing his culinary skills in Las Vegas for many years with experience at Luxor, The Venetian, New York-New York and Monte Carlo Resort & Casino. A long way from his first chef position at the Stratosphere at age 20, Pena has since appeared on the Food Network and in the second annual Celebrity Chef Tour benefiting the James Beard Foundation. Chef Pena has worked in a variety of environments throughout his career, including as personal chef to boxing promoter Don King and his fighters, including the legendary Mike Tyson. He is also an expert at opening new restaurants, having been a part of seven venue creations with House of Blues: Anaheim, San Diego, Cleveland, Atlantic City, Las Vegas and Orlando; as well as the re-opening of the New Orleans location following Hurricane Katrina. He is very proud to be a part of B.B. King's Blues Club and considers his new position the "biggest project" of his career.
Sous Chef McCann, a graduate of Western Culinary Institute in Oregon, is still searching to "make his mark in the culinary world." His career includes a contestant position on "Hell's Kitchen: Season 4" and a feature in Tasting Panel magazine. He has also worked for celebrity Chef Mario Batali and at The Venetian, MGM Grand and Mandalay Bay. Chef McCann's energy and excitement is a great addition to the B.B. King's Blues Club team and he's excited for this next step in his career.

B.B. King's Blues Club at The Mirage will be located across from The Beatles REVOLUTION Lounge and next to Samba Brazilian Steakhouse. The 558-seat venue will feature four bars; one outside looking into the club and three inside, all with great views of the stage and entertainment. The restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and late-night dining; open until 2 a.m. on weekdays and 4 a.m. on weekends or until the last man (or woman) is left standing.
